Comics. Art. Community.

The Wakanda Alliance is a comic reading and comprehension workshop. It was developed to help readers explore the historical context behind Marvel's most famous African heroes - The Black Panther, T'Challa, and his sister, Shuri. We chose these titles because we understood how to connect their cultural references to the African diaspora to their curious readers. To make this connection in a educational setting was a mission worth every effort!

Adapting Like A Wakandan

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alliance continued programming with fully virtual workshops. This opened the door to feature guests from around the world, from Hawaii, US to Nairobi, Kenya. As restrictions lifted, we switched to hybrid programming to host in-person and virtual audiences.
