We Are Tribe

The Galactic Tribe is a 501c-3 organization that cultivates communities through

intergenerational workshops and programming. After the release of Marvel’s

Black Panther film in 2018, our founders assembled workshops, movie

discussion nights, and parties to explore our community’s ideas about

blackness in the future. These conversations made one thing clear: more of

these gatherings were necessary.

Soon after, Marvel released the “Black Panther: The

Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda” comic series. Its content garnered even more

attention on Afrofuturist and African Diasporic conversations. Almost a year

later, we hosted our first Wakanda Alliance Program, using both Black Panther

and Shuri titles as a nexus for teaching young boys and girls. We soon noticed

that parents and guardians stuck around to learn alongside them. A tribe began

to form as the programs welcomed various artists, activists, teachers, and

others - our collective took shape, and donned ourselves as The Galactic Tribe.

We have hosted over 30 workshops, featured guest talents from the U.S., U.K.,

and Kenya, and now employee teens to learn our methods of programming and

get involved with their community.

Our workshops continue to tackle the topics of

  • liberation

  • representation

  • social & environmental justice

  • education & health reform

And the upward growth of societies everywhere. There Are Black People In The Future.
