Welcome Our Executive Director, Mr. DQ Grant!

Buffalo, NY (July 17, 2023) – The Board of the Galactic Tribe has named the organization’s first Executive Director– Mr. Darin Grant. Founded in 2019, The Galactic Tribe, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit in Buffalo, NY, is a front-line arts organization– a collective of artists, teachers, and community leaders who believe in a future beyond the limitations of white supremacy. Assembled to bring the community together through engaging activities for young people and their families using an Afrofuturist framework, the Tribe encourages a perspective that acknowledges Black people in the future will excel, thrive, and succeed. The organization is engaged in charitable works through clothing and sneaker drives and free workshops and community events held at the Delavan-Grider Community Center, 877 E Delavan Ave, Buffalo, NY 14215.

Mr. Grant is one of the founders of the Galactic Tribe and has been a key leadership figure in the organization since its inception. Previously serving in a full time staffing position as Community Engagement Specialist, Mr. Grant assumes the Executive Director role with plenty of leadership experience under his belt.

One of the founders of PANTHFRICA, an organization that screened the first Black Panther film for hundreds of people and engaged the community in a series of Afrofuturist art installations and events, Darin has been consistent in his commitment to the Buffalo community over many years.

Whether engaging with artists as a Hip Hop promoter and manager, volunteering with Feed Buffalo, PUSH Buffalo, VOICE Buffalo, and other mission-based campaigns, or hosting events such as the Annual Post Juneteenth Celebration, Darin puts the community first and will be a strong leader for the Tribe going forward. “My goal is for us to continue staying on the straight path that will provide sustainability, longevity, and legacy for our community, especially for our youth through programs that think of us, about us, first.”
